This unique kitchen, with an island in the centre of the room and floor to ceiling cabinets along one side, prevent this kitchen from looking too cluttered. All Helen’s daily needs are catered for with ample storage and plenty of open work surface whilst looking stunning at the same time.
Helen chose a dramatic light and dark theme for her new kitchen and decided on pale doors on the island and dark wood doors on the bank of larder cabinets. Long stainless steel handles continue the long lines and add a modern touch.
The living room is next door to Helen’s kitchen and she wanted access the room without sacrificing on style. An ingenious, false door on one end of the bank of larder units open into the living room but looks like part of the overall kitchen design.
Helen opted to place the hob at one end of the island, opposite the seating area so she can chat with guests while cooking. This makes it a brilliant room for entertaining. A red range cooker adds a fun pop of colour.
A graphite sink and modern stainless steel tap look sleek and fit beautifully on the worktop. Helen loves the minimalist look so chose in built storage solutions to keep her new kitchen uncluttered. The stunning, dark tone flooring completes the room to perfection.
Design Tip
‘Helen’s open plan kitchen meant that our designer had a lot of space to play with. She desperately wanted access from the kitchen to the living area, without an intrusive door. Our designer chose to use a false door on the larder bank which doesn’t disrupt the overall style.’
