What a pleasure to organising an art studio! And certainly not the standard type of room I organise but still SO MUCH FUN!
The best thing about this session with Carla (other than learning soooo much about art supplies) is the confirmation that the process of organising is exactly the same for ANY ROOM in your home.
You may think your situation is different or unique, but I promise you, the process is EXACTLY THE SAME.
Here's how I use my D.R.E.S.S formula to organise any space:
DECIDE - This may seem obvious to some, but making the decision to organise a draw, cupboard, area or room is the first and most important step.
REMOVE - You are going to take every single item out of the space so you are working with a clear canvas.
ESTABLISH - Here is where you sort your items to decide what is going to be kept, donated, repaired or thrown away.
SYSTEMS - At this point, you need to start placing similar or 'like' items together into categories and even subcategories. Once you have your categories you can research and purchase any product solutions to suit the needs of each category.
STYLE - Now it's time to place everything back into the room and add your labels -
LABEL EVERYTHING, I cannot stress this enough especially when living with others so there is no confusion about what goes where.
Thats' it! No matter what type of space you have this process is always the same and will create an uncluttered and organised home for you and your family.
