Ainslie

A lovely busy family (complete with gorgeous dog!) in Ainslie needed to finish their houses face-lift by replacing 20 roman blinds. The previous blinds had lasted very well for 17 years (proving you get what you pay for) and were a very popular brand ‘Beach Blinds’. They featured a sturdy starched canvas fabric which was tremendously popular as a hardy and well lasting blind. The company who made these romans was bought by Hunter Douglas and unfortunately the canvas supplier ceased trading and the same standard was unable to be replaced. Hunter Douglas are now offering a synthetic option which is very similar in performance.
To recreate this canvas feel and functionality for this family, it was best to go with a natural fabric. A thick weave cotton fit the bill as sturdy, translucent and easy care.
They featured; 20mm head boards, cord drives, chrome acorns, transparent cleats and were all treated with a Scotchguard coating to make them even easier to keep clean and completely family proof.
The client wanted to have light penetrate into the room without compromising their privacy so all blinds (except for the front of house) had a one pass lining sewn to the back. This not only serves as a light control but also adds a level of insulation through its extra density.
The street facing windows at the front of the house were backed with blockout fabric, ensuring privacy and light control for the front bedrooms.
We loved this house and the beautiful open and light feel. These blinds were the finishing touches to a fantastic family environment, and will do an excellent job for the next 17 years!
