In re-designing and renovating this late 1990s bathroom, the designer faced a monumental challenge: a list of non-negotiable inclusions and a limited space in which to squeeze them. Eventually it became clear that more space was needed so the designer floated the idea of using some of the adjacent spare room in order to create a bathroom that would suit the lifestyle needs of this professional couple.
The end result is a stunning space which is warm and welcoming – the perfect room in which to unwind after a busy day. Organic shapes and a neutral colour scheme, with a few well-chosen feature pieces, ensure the bathroom is visually appealing no matter what time the owners need to use its services.
Included in the renovation was not just the generous ensuite bathroom but a new walk-in robe and a study nook for added functionality. New windows – fitted with a translucent laminated glass for privacy – are larger than the originals to allow natural light to stream into the bathroom.
Designed as the main feature in the bathroom, the beautiful freestanding bath was chosen in a stone composite material to complement the floor and wall tiles, marble-look stone and marble/glass mosaics. Underfloor heating and a heated towel rail add a touch of luxury to this highly-functional space.
