Custom Hampton Home Build - Wahroonga
FINALIST | MBA Excellence in Housing Awards 2020
A cohesive, custom design and construction of a two storey, five bedroom, family home which embraces the timeless characteristics and features of the Hamptons style. The open plan design consists of expansive, light-filled living spaces with architectural detail. The inclusion of large format glass doors and windows in almost every room not only encourages the healthy flow of natural light, it also allows the interior layout to effortlessly flow into outdoor spaces. This home truly embodies the Australian lifestyle and our love for seamless indoor/outdoor living
It is also the combination of textures, materials and structural elements which really give this contemporary home a classic feel. Incorporating natural sandstone on the front porch and in the back-to-back feature fireplace helps develop a consistent relationship between internal and external spaces. An exaggerated raked ceiling and two storey void upon entry adds to the character and charm of the home, heightening the sense of luxury, spaciousness and warmth
Our Brief: To create a custom, family friendly home which adopts styling elements from the classic coastal style of the Hamptons. The design should prioritise natural light and the interior floor plan should eliminate unnecessary interruptions between indoor and outdoor living
Exterior Features: Scyon Linea™ 180mm weatherboards with excellent thermal properties | Traditional cedar shingle cladding | HardieGroove™ V Joint panelling which gives the look of tongue and groove timber but with the durability of fibre cement | Back to back sandstone fireplace with limestone cladding in alfresco area | Outdoor pool with integrated home network system | 6kw solar electrical system | Rain water tanks for irrigation and waste water servicing
Interior Features: Large, full height double glazed windows and expansive UPVC sliding doors that almost evaporate barriers between indoor and outdoor living | Coffer ceiling with V Joint detailing in kitchen, dining and living creates a subtle division between the different zones | Back to back sandstone fireplace with limestone cladding in formal living room | Native Australian blackbutt floors | Spacious butler’s pantry | Vaulted rake cathedral ceiling in master bedroom and ensuite
