Forestville: Bathroom Renovation Sydney 2087

Design Brief

The clients have just purchased this 1970’s home in the North Shore of Sydney on a sloping block. Before moving in they wanted extensive renovations completed including main ensuite.

The client wanted to totally revamp the existing ensuite and give it a fresh and contemporary feel.

The client’s main objectives were.

1 - Achieve a shower for two people
2 - Hide the toilet
3 - A free standing oval bath with feature faucet free standing
4 - Clever lighting
5 - Heated towel rails
6 - Access to vanity with toilet out of site
7 - Timber touch
8 - Tile to ceiling
9 - Large tiles
10 - Wow factor

Design Statement

To achieve the clients brief I needed to reconstruct the space. I had to shift walls to make a shower that could comfortably accommodate two adults. The shower was 1.8 metres in length & I rebated the wall at a convenient height to house shampoo, condition & soaps & feature concealed LED lighting. As a feature I positioned the bath on an angle for greater contemporary feel & wow factor. The other main move was to reposition the vanity to the hallway entrance of the ensuite. This meant that the vanity could be accessed & used with the toilet out of site & the shower behind walls. The other major factor was to make a statement as you entered the space with symmetrical presentation of the elevated vanity with centred round basin, mirror & pendant light. This created a very appealing ambience. Also achieved was the fact that while using the vanity the eye could only see the major feature in the space, which was the oval bath with pendant lighting, free standing faucet graced by stained floating timber shelves. 600x600 tiles were used to give this space the big feel. All inclusions the client required were met & the finished product is beyond the clients expectations.
