Linley Point Kitchen Renovation 2066

Sydney Kitchen Waterfront

When you have a large kitchen dining area overlooking a full length verandah that overlooks a stunning harbour view, you would think that the kitchen would be a priority & the design of the kitchen would compliment the space to maximize everything that this space offers.
Well that's what you would think, but the builders of this wonderful house had no idea about kitchen design, or functional kitchen space or resale value.
As you can see by the pictures, they allowed a roof support in the middle of the room to dictate the entire outcome of the design, the look & the function.
It's hard to believe that even if the support had to stay, that a better design solution could not be attained.
This is how potential can be suffocated by inexperience. Many people take short cuts or listen to builders who sometimes want to take the easy way out & do not bring in professionals who know how to extract the very best result in design, look & function. This is false economy as you will never get the result that a highly experienced designer can deliver.
We met our clients at our Grand Design display in Sydney Australia. We were engaged to view the property & come up with a design solution.

Our clients had both retired & they both spent considerable time in the kitchen & they wanted to make this space the highly functional entertainer it should be for enjoying their friends, family & grand children. They both spent considerable time in the kitchen & found the space extremely tight, as there was one way in & out. They found they were on top of one another all the time & there was continual competition for bench space & the utensil area. The dishwasher when down was also a hindrance.
Other things to consider were added storage, more clear bench area & better benchtop lighting. The vacuum cleaner & brooms needed to be housed & a wall air conditioner had to be reinstalled & hidden in the joinery. Ease of use at benchtop level for appliances & easy access to cooking needs near the cooktop was desired. The client also needed a wine fridge to be a part of the kitchen inclusions.
The attached pictures show the finished product. Note the grooved drainer section in the stone for the sink and the electronic rolladoor over the appliance pantry which hide the air conditioner. This is a clever way to give the kitchen a clean look when the air conditioner is not being used.
The kitchen is now highly functional & everything that the client desired has been achieved. This space now has the kitchen it deserves. The following is the appliance list colours & materials used.
