JAMIE DURIE DESIGN

GARDEN GALLERY BY JAMIE DURIE

While these gardens represent different styles and are built for very different people, a few common threads emerge. One is the use of sustainable materials, products and planting schemes, such as native and water-wise-species - and another is the inclusion of edible plants.

These days, the boundary between inside and outside barely exists in the most beautifully designed homes, resorts, restaurants and workplace. Nature is integrated into the architecture, and the more our living spaces and lifestyles are infused with natural elements, the more luxurious they feel. From something as humble as growing fresh herbs in pots on your kitchen windowsill to the sophistication of a vertical herb garden wall in a fully equipped kitchen, what matters is that we are creating a meaningful connection with the environment. Through this revolution, through extending our living outwards, we are all reconnecting with something intrinsic to our being - the rhythms of the natural world. To me, this is true design success.
