Glebe House

Builder: Lachlan Lynch Constructions
Structural Engineer: Partridge
Photographer: Robert Walsh @robertwphoto

The main focus of this project was the conversion of a large attic space into a generous and functional study for the owners, both of whom often work from home.

The study is reached via a new steel and timber stair that was designed to fit above the original stairs, conserving a small highlight window high up on the existing stair hall wall. To the north, the new study captures views over the nearby rooftops to the city and, to the south, into the treetops of the street outside.

The study design incorporated custom-designed desk joinery as well as a wardrobe space so that the space can be used as a guest room or even converted into a bedroom later if required.

The project also included a new laundry/bathroom at ground floor level, and new doors and joinery to an existing living room.
