Industrial Design by Tuck Tucki Creek

An industrial design home overlooking the creek and parklands; the brazen construction materials meshing with nature and moulding into the bank of Tucki Tucki creek. The solid red clay bricks were repurposed from buildings throughout Sydney to bring a special warmth to the home which is the focus point in the double story entrance and staircase, also highlighting the master bedroom, nursery and bathroom.
An extensive amount of form work was needed to build the freestanding concrete feature wall dividing the lounge and dining areas and a wood grain was imprinted in the concrete by sand blasting the form work. This feature was designed to hold a vertical garden & TV unit and divide the living areas while maintaining the wide-open space typical of an industrial design.
Parapet walls, level portico awning and exposed, hot dipped galvanised steel structural beams have been used to create an almost commercial feel to the façade of the home
Satin finished, polished concrete floors throughout the main living area leads outside through the corner stacking doors to create a seamless indoor/outdoor space. The design brief from the owner was to really maximise the rainforest view and level ground available on the site aiming to create a great flow from the indoors to outdoors. This was achieved by building a 4-meter-high by 30-meter-long retaining wall to allow for the slab on ground construction just 7 meters from the creek.
