Modern Beach Cottage

We demolished the old asbestos cottage to create a new family home.
A block with quite a sloped driveway and block created the opportunity to create a split level house.
At barely 7m wide we had to create a super efficient space on this 210m2 block. We tucked the front door behind an extended wall from the garage to keep clean front of house lines and avoid drawing attention to the narrowness.
During the course of the build we made good friends with all the neighbours, one of the many benefits of this was we agreed not to build side fences to the left side, creating a 2m wide 'green common space' instead - a much better visual, with the back yard gates starting several meters back out of view from the street.
A hand carved surfboard mail box, a laser cut endless summer frosted glass balustrade, plantation shutters with filtered light through-out, this house attracted a long term rental contract before the last coat of paint had been applied.
