Oblique Addition, Garden City / Port Melbourne, VIC

On a oblique street corner, a small wedge shaped block with small brick semi-detached house. Garden City is a heritage area so the material palette is tiled roofs and masonry.
We designed a cranked black and white addition following the oblique angle of the streets, with a clear roofed carport in the wedge shaped sideway shows off the existing brick gable side wall.

Making the most of a small, wedge-shaped block, narrower at the back than the front. A clear roofed deck to the full width of the cranked addition at the back in white block and a clinker brick boundary wall.

The minimal, unobtrusive, existing porch is heritage so couldn't be enlarged. It was refurbished and sealed from the weather, with the patterned tiles acting as the sign to the entry.
