This traditional Oakland hills home offers amazing views of the beautiful San Francisco bay area but when the new homeowners moved in, they found the dated and dark kitchen in need of a remodel. The existing kitchen space was broken up into odd parts and pieces, and was not only inefficient, but did not allow for family and friends to gather in the space. The greatest challenge with this project was developing a layout that satisfied the necessary functionality of the work triangle, met the client’s requirements for large appliances, and created two spaces for casual eating; a breakfast area and countertop seating. After several design presentations, the ideal design layout was selected. Beautiful and timeless color pallets were contrasted with a vibrant and unique backsplash behind the range to give the kitchen an updated classic feel.
