Bathroom - Wood warms cool tiles

Bathroom reno in Selby victoria. I managed to rescue enough timber from an old hardwood wall we pulled out to make a reclaimed timber vanity top. The bath step is crafted from my mothers old fence palings. I found some spotted gum decking on sale to use as architraves providing considerably more character than standard arc material. Tiling full walls to the ceiling helps create a seamless sense of space without stopping the eye at a horizon line. In this situation it also compliments the raked ceiling line. Matching the bath with the floor tile and mounting the vanity off the floor assist in increasing the feel of floor space. The old window winders although stiff and tired added a beautiful industrial element to the window furniture once they received a little steel wool and some TLC. We also renovated the laundry, added a separate toilet and dressed up the entry and hall continuing the feature gum architraves throughout complimented with beautiful sturdy paneled solid hardwood doors. To achieve a timber look on a budget we used a laminated timber bench slab from Ikea but mitred the return to the floor to use up the left over and add a bit more pizazz to an otherwise simple laminate laundry.
