I was commissioned to design this Caribbean inspired residential display suite for the renowned Mon Komo development in Queensland. My brief was to design a colourful and original home that took the purchaser on a journey to a farway tropical wonderland. Bright saturated colour was incorporated in the soft furnishings and wallpaper to offset powerfully against the fresh white walls and larger furniture elements; dining table, beds and sofa. As well as colour, pattern was used to evoke an exotic orientation; stripes, hand beaded arm chairs, florals, geometrics, were all combined in a fun energetic way to deliver a very unique and dynamic interior. The bedrooms and study nook followed theme, each offering something different to intrigue and inspire. This was a super fun project to work on. We were well aware at the time of designing it that it would not be to everyone’s liking so I made sure the journey and feeling created throughout the home was fresh, easily understood and enjoyable. It really was a magical space to experience.
