Vaulted ceilings and an adjoining room boasting a full height arched window…this guest room was not living up to it’s potential. The owner couple wanted to incorporate some of their antique pieces and gifted artwork, including a Ken Done original, whilst creating a much more contemporary, boutique vibe.

RSd opted to paint the walls and ceilings white to accentuate the voluminous, sculptural quality of the roof space thus creating a gallery feel that served as an optimal backdrop for the brightly coloured artworks. Greys and blues formed the base palette to tie in with the rest of the house, but punctuated with ochres, pinks and greens harmonising with the artworks.

Inspired by the clients’ antique lamp RSd introduced subtle deco elements mixed in with Scandinavian and traditional references favoured by the clients. The result is a contemporary, eclectic guest room both joyful and whimsical whilst at the same time retaining sophistication and grandeur.
