Ramsay Street, Kedron
This home in Kedron in Brisbane's northern suburbs was purchased by the owners as a renovation project. In dire need of a full internal and renovation project the house had good bones and was already concreted and raised. The original flooring was in poor condition and the house was lined with asbestos. There was sheeting missing, shower heads with no head and no hot water. The challenge to this house was designing around the steel beams already in place from the house raise already completed.
The first step was to create and open plan living and remove the internal walls and one bedroom to open up the space. The kitchen featured supernatural stone, Moroccan style pendants and a freestanding double Ilve oven. An extension was added at the rear of the property to create one of the two outdoor entertainment areas. The two front bedrooms were resheeted and some structural changes were made to the third bedroom and bathroom including creating a separate toilet. Internal stairs were added at the rear of the home.
Downstairs was a complete new build with a master suite with walk-in robe and ensuite featuring an oversized steam shower. The fifth and smallest bedroom was next to the third bathroom and connecting garage with laundry and additional storage space. Completing this level was a small rumpus or study opening on do a large entertainment area with built in deck with seating and a recreational bocce court.
