Manly House

This is a new family home with five bedrooms on a small block two streets back from Manly Beach. The house is a strong sculptural form created by using a simple extruded shape with timber cladding for the upper level and crisp white cubic forms for the lower supporting form.
The timber detailing internally reinforces the sculptural form of the exterior. Colour is used to create warmth, character and interest in the simple white forms.
A high level of detail carries through form the form of the exterior into the interior joinery forms, colours and materials.

The stair is an eccentric spine with floating Blackbutt treads and side fixed frameless glass balustrade. The timber ceiling wraps up the side of the upper level to reinforce the external sculptural form.

The floor and ceiling are in the same material to reinforce the sculptural form of the white walls supporting the timber upper level. The timber creates a warm internal character in a slick contemporary design.

The open plan dining area connects directly out to the rear deck, pool and garden.

Bathroom colours are subtle with a highlight of custom designed glass 'stick' tiles for the splashback.

The Ensuite includes a bath with skylight over (see reflection in mirror) to look at the stars, custom designed glass tile splashback adds colour to a soft palette of grey / brown + white.

The family room opens out to a deck, the timber ceiling in the room continues the form of the timber upper level from outside to inside.

The Family Room opens on both sides to allow flow through from the front garden to the couryard on the north and then through to teh main rear living area.

External detailing is crisp and quirky with acrylic shades over windows and strong horizontal lines created by the timber cladding.
