Port Douglas Residence

The house was designed as a basic U-Shape. The roof was angled in order to prevent street noise entering the house.
The main living area occupies the central position between the master bedroom wing and the guest bedroom wing.
The main living area opens out onto a covered outdoor entertaining area leading to the pool area. The covered area is roofed by a garden that runs around and finally becomes the car port.
The two main bedrooms both have en-suite bathrooms with private outdoor showers. The third bedroom utilises the third bathroom / laundry as it’s facility. This bathroom also has an outdoor shower.
The home has been constructed in a palette of basic materials to reduce cost. Concrete block, aluminum joinery and tiled floors come together in an economical package.
High level louvre windows provide for excellent air flow and together with the raked ceiling make for a very comfortable living environment.
The open car port with planted garden above gives the house a Mid-century aesthetic within a tropical environment
