This project was initially commissioned through Archicentre as a Design Report. The basis of the design was conceptualised from initial discussions of the design being clean lined though with a tactile, softened edge. We adopted the use of warm finishes such as timber cladding and slatting, dark stained interior timber floors and timber window frames. A polished concrete floor was installed for the lower level living area which was supplemented by a hydronic heating system to ensure warmth during Winter. The overall approach meeting the client's expectations through strong lines and a unified palette of finishes throughout including detailed design joinery as well as light filled open plan spaces maximising sea breeze ventilation.
