CLEVER DESIGN FOR FAMILY LIVING
A kitchen of quality with a focus on sharing precious family time.
The European trend of incorporating a table as a fixture of the kitchen rather than seated on stools, I saw as having real benefits. It allows those involved in food preparation to communicate at a better level and feel part of the family.
The placement of this table is governed by the floor space, however it can be put at differing angles.
In designing this family kitchen the area was long so a gallery style with a scullery was decided on. The integrated fridge-freezer provided me with the separation I needed for the walk-in scullery. This wall is extended with a storage cupboard and an open bookshelf which faces the adjoining area . The door on this is extended over the narrow bookshelf so it is not visible from the kitchen.
Laminex Tawny Limewood and Laminex Paper Bark was chosen for the cupboards and draws throughout the kitchen and scullery. All open shelving, again in the Tawny Limewood are of 25 mm board for both stability and aesthetics.
The integrated table easily allows for five people to dine in comfort and style and is constructed also of the Tawney Limewood.
These colours are enhanced by Quantum Quartz engineered marble ‘Carra Quartz’ with 100mm mitred apron fronts to island and 50mm to cooktop, oversize 650mmdeep.
Blum hardware and organizing systems have been used throughout this kitchen with Servo-Drive automatic opening to eliminate handles. This includes the designer sink draw, rubbish bins, spice rack and bottle draw
Split overhead cupboards with “Aventos “ lift up automatic doors make storage at this higher level more useable.
For a durable workspace in the scullery, a stainless steel wet edge benchtop with integrated sink was selected and narrow adjustable shelving used for easy retrieval of items.
Siemen appliances: oven, coffee machine, steam oven, plate draw, combination oven, dishwasher and wine fridge help to make life easier in this family designed kitchen.
