A kitchen of supreme quality and presentation
This modern home, designed by Dan Dignum from dignum design deserved a kitchen design that complemented the space and added to the overall feel of the home.
The brief was that it be a space that one would be very happy to spend time in.
A linear-style bench in ‘Star Beach’ granite was selected that, through the use of dark kickboards, gives a floating appearance when viewed from any angle of the room. The use of 60mm mitred tops is in keeping with the overall proportions of the area. The use of Blum Servo-Drive drawers in the island bench and an integrated dishwasher has allowed the finish to be very clean in appearance. Oversized deep drawers, some up to 650mm, have been used.
This trend is found throughout the rest of the kitchen, with the inclusion of an integrated fridge and freezer and custom ‘Qasair’ rangehood that is 2.8.metres long finishing off the cooking area.
The floor is made of ‘Spotted Gum’ recycled timber, which varies in colour. This colour palette was the basis for the selection of the fit-out.
A combination of ‘Laminex Ebony Macassar and a custom two-pack finish was selected. The two-pack has a pearl appearance, which was achieved by the use
of a metallic final topcoat.
To tie the kitchen to the dining area a back-lit bar was included. As the coffee machine is installed close by, draws allow for storage of cups for coffee to be served here.
Bringing the family together was considered important, so a study area left of the kitchen allows for homework to be supervised while dinner is prepared.
Curved bi-fold doors opens the room to the outdoors and the result is an excellent, functional kitchen that brings great pleasure to the owners
