Large Extension with Focus on Natural Light
The Site Foreman and House To Home Finishes provided the complete offering of services for these clients, delivering them a beautifully designed home through a straight forward, well managed process.
The architect worked to re-design the existing layout and accommodate the owner’s wish list for a rear extension. The existing included three bedrooms plus family bathroom, master bedroom with ensuite and walk-in robe upstairs. Downstairs, the existing garage was renovated with built in shelving and a new roller door. The remaining space accommodates a family room, guest bedroom walk in linen store and study.
The rear addition leading through from the existing ground floor has created a whole new world for this family. To the immediate left is a bathroom with shower, to the right is a laundry with external door to the cloths line. Following on, the space opens to a delightful, open plan space with an abundance of natural light accommodating the kitchen, dining and living room leading to alfresco decking that overlooks the new pool.
The existing rear yard was plain and untouched, ripe for development. The clients wanted to renovate the existing two story garage/studio making it a cabana for the proposed pool. Challenges arose when it was realised that the neighbouring property accommodated two substantial, native trees with rout systems and canopies that ran under and hung over our client’s property. The larger of the two trees was a Moreton Bay Fig (Ficus macrophylla), standing 28m tall and heritage listed due to its size and age dictated the specifics of the pool design and meant the requirement of a supporting arborist report for lodging the development application with council, however the photos tell the story of success.
