Large side return in SW4
Side Return Extension in Clapham, SW4.
We completed this build in Summer 2014. The family contacted us as they were having problems with their existing architect in obtaining planning permission for a wraparound in Lambeth. We took over from their architect, and we were successful in gaining planning permission for a 60 sqm wraparound extension facing a highway within a standard planning timeframe.
One of the most exciting features of this build is the 2.5 meter deep, sunken wine cellar with a spiral staircase as the focal point.
Another feature is the glazed roof lantern. This not only looks impressive in a side return extension, but it also allows a lot of natural light into the new space. We also installed 6 meter wide bi-fold doors which really open up the room. This combined with the level threshold really help to blur the boundaries between the inside and outside and create a fantastic indoor outdoor room.
