This was a unique project in every sense to us, because it wasn’t a typical full gut renovation.

We usually design for a complete Kitchen Reno, which would typically involve tearing down walls, moving plumbing, gas lines, and electrical. This one was different. Much different! Our client bought this beautiful turnkey Condo in Union City, so the Kitchen Cabinet was a keeper but needed some additional “pizazz”.

They wanted the clarity of contemporary design — flat planes, restraint, clean lines. But they weren't ready to give up warmth, proportion, and the feeling that the room had been built with care rather than just assembled. So the goal became something harder: both at once.

Blending two design languages only works when one thing is settled first — the layout. Work triangle efficient, circulation unobstructed, storage integrated rather than stacked. Once that foundation was solid, the design choices could do their job. Cabinet lines stay clean and horizontal — unmistakably modern. But the proportions between upper and lower cabinetry avoid the starkness that makes some contemporary kitchens feel like showrooms rather than homes. The backsplash stays disciplined. The countertop provides continuity. The hardware adds subtle warmth without announcing itself.

The difference between a blended kitchen that works and one that just looks confused is restraint. This one holds the line.
