French Provincial Bathroom With Custom-Designed & Made Vanity

The goal with this project was to create a space with a timeless essence, a bathroom where the homeowners could relax in comfort and luxury. The original bathroom, a hideous yellow number with original 1920s fittings, was poorly designed and simply didn’t meet the owners’ needs.
By incorporating a taste of French provincial style into the bathroom, designer John Spiteri has given the bathroom a classic beauty that will last for years. The beautiful hand-carved vanity and mirror add a touch of grandeur, combining perfectly with the old English lever-style tapware.
John also matched the etching from the window in four of the floor tiles, forming a strong connection to the past and helping the bathroom blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
Long hours of meticulous planning were also put into determining the positioning of all elements within the room. The main obstacle in this process was figuring out how to place the bath against the back wall so that it would look right at home with the rest of the room. John solved this problem by utilising the same Carrara marble with matching lamb’s tongue finish and hand-painted timber as featured on the vanity.
Although John and his team did not have a large space to work with, this retreat has a roomy, inviting feel and all the lavish fittings you’d expect in a modern bathroom. It’s the perfect place for the owners to relax and unwind in luxury.
