Harbour House
Located on Sydney Harbour, the house is on a steep block falling from the street to the harbor. To avoid an external staircase entry to the house is through the entry forecourt and entry pavilion at street level. A grand gallery stair leads to the living areas on the ground floor. Bedrooms are located on the upper level and a games room, under ground parking and swimming pool are located on the lower ground floor.
The house is designed as two pavilions which contain the formal living areas (pavilion facing the tennis court) and family living (facing the harbor). The spaces between the pavilions form the internal walkways which contain single and double storey spaces aiding the spatial quality of the house. the internal walkways are treated as external spaces with rendered walls and stone paving from the outside being brought in, and light steel framed glass walls on the external side.
The palette consists of rendered walls; timber for floors, windows, shutters and pergolas and joinery; off-form concrete for lintels and capping; copper roof and wall cladding; exposed steelwork. The variety of finishes adds to the texture and detailing of the project.
