Mosman House
A new residence on a steep site in Mosman. The house was designed as two pavilions centred around a protected courtyard.
One enters from the street level on the first floor with a wide stair bringing you down to the main living areas which open up to the central courtyard with a louvred roof to allow for all weather use.
The house consisted of a combined living, dining and kitchen area, home theatre and service areas on the ground floor and 3 bedrooms, study, garaging and entry on the first. The two levels were connected by the stair (and also by a lift). A pool, spa, cabana and bbq terrace is located to the rear of the property.
The house has an off-form concrete frame which was left exposed. Concrete block was used for the external walls. The interior was more refined with plaster walls, American oak joinery, aluminium windows and louvres and grey limestone floors.
A striking saw tooth zinc roof was utilised that brought light into the centre of the house.
The design and materials created an openness that integrated the indoor and outdoor areas, created a free flowing connection between the main rooms and outdoor areas.
