Country Style with Verde Khater Granite
The owner's of this lovely home are keen cooks and entertainers, and wanted a kitchen that would coordinate with the existing decor, have plenty of storage and benchspace, as well as utilise the available space to the maximum extent possible. To achieve this, the design was initially conceptuallised from the hallway decor. The cream and green, so popular in traditional homes, was continued into the kitchen and family areas. Using the same green granite of the tiles in the hallway, created just the desired effect. The joinery was extended into the family space to create additional storage and a place to have decor items, lamps, etc. At the same time, this helps to link the decor in both the kitchen and the family area. Thanks to the large space available, the U-shaped kitchen, an additional 'cook's island' was able to be incorporated into the design. In this way the cook is able to continue working, without having to take precautions such as splashing guests at the island or having to accommodate benchspace for them. Having the middle island, is not only a great way to maximise benchspace, it also places the bench closer to the cooktop making the work triangle much more efficient and safe. Thanks to custom joinery the space under the stairs was creatively used to house the fridge and the microwave, as well as allowing for open shelves for books and extra storage. Plenty of drawers, dedicated pull-outs for bins, and generous breakfast bar with plenty of seating, are just some of the other stand-out features of this kitchen.
