Transitional Bathroom Beauty
We began the renovation journey of this client's home in 2023, when we completed their beautiful traditional kitchen (see our feature project: "Two Tone Hampton Style Kitchen").
In keeping with the black and white theme used in the kitchen, we continued with a similar palette in the main bathroom.
The client wanted to give a total lift to their compact 1870's Birchgrove cottage and the white and black theme with a transitional design style strikes just the correct notes to achieve this.
The subtly patterned Parquet Carrara + Thassos Honed Marble Mosaic floor tiles were the launching pad for the rest of the design elements. The Opera White Stone Look Wall 600 x 300 tiles provide the perfect neutral backdrop, and tone in perfectly with the floor. To add interest, the stunning Spanish, hand-made subway tiles, in Craquele Marble, laid vertically, were a fabulous addition to create the Transitional style.
The wet area with semi-reset curved corner bath and tiled shelf, allow for discrete placement of the hidden cistern WC and creates a beautiful bathing area perfect for relaxing after a long day. The traditional style rain shower set in the nib wall was a clever design idea and adds visual impact too.
The Shaker style custom vanity in black adds the accent colour, which is then reflected in the selection of dark towels and bath robes, to create a balanced picture.
Vertical heated towel rods are a great choice, particularly when space is limited.
To further pepper the area with traditional design features, traditional tapware in brushed nickel, as well as a traditional feature light pendant, which resonate with the pretty etched glass window, seal the Transitional style - a little bit of old and little bit of new - a beautiful result all round.
