Nestled in amongst Richardson Street's famous boulevard of plane trees, A Little Richardson is a modest footprint renovation with a big heart. We worked to maximise the feeling of space by reworking the entry, incorporating the perception of the courtyard space into the living areas, and most importantly tucking the stair in behind the kitchen. Upstairs 2 bedrooms and a bathroom neatly slot in, with views out to the wonderful tree canopy. An external stair works within the heritage constraints to take you up to a hidden roof deck, an oasis in the tree-tops, and the cladding of black-charred timber battens both vertically and mimicking the roof angle, covers the upper levels in a concise interplay with red brick and highlight window patterns below.
