The Blue Ivy House
The Blue Ivy House is a beautiful recently completed renovation in leafy Malvern, Victoria. Gorgeous veined marble joinery, bold colour and the warmth of timber features in this renovation, complimenting the client's extensive art collection.
The clients were downsizing and looking for a relaxed setting to reflect their love of fine art, cooking and reading, and extended family cooking and events.
We proposed completely opening up the ground floor spaces to each-other which the clients loved.
Complimenting the internal areas is a landscaped courtyard garden.
We reorganised the facade to provide three French style doors which better integrate the courtyard to the kitchen interior.
Organised around the generous island bench, the kitchen is complimented by the adjacent timber dining table to provide a place for the family to eat, read, study, relax and converse.
Vertical elements (integrated refrigerator, pantry) are located together opposite the French
doors, and appliances and sink arranged along a long bench to the rear.
A frameless flush rangehood perfectly concealed behind the overheads.
The pantry doors open to reveal a hidden additional bench space complete with sensor lights
and marble. The latest technology in concealed task-lighting and track lighting, is
complimented by the charm of the classic feature pendants.
A freestanding Lacanche cast-iron range provides a hint of country-charm and compliments the
French doors.
Deep overhead cupboards imply a continuous surface, elegantly resolve the junction with the
pantry and create a recessed appliance area.
Free of services the island bench provides a generous preparation area and centerpiece for
relaxed social interaction.
The carefully considered palette of materials with matt-blue 2pac provide a dark moody
backdrop to Arabescato Vagli stone and Victorian Ash textures.
The stone is the feature element and is the hero of the kitchen. Open timber shelves increase the practicality of the high overhead cupboards and allow for
display of glassware and objet d’art.
The kitchen is the centerpiece of the renovated home and together with living, dining and
courtyard garden provide he perfect generous open informal living zone.
