A recently built house on a steep site had an ugly unexcavated portion at one end that was highly visible to the street. This made it look unfinished. In addition to this, the adjacent site area was totally undeveloped and extremely steep, making it unusable. The brief was to excavate and fill in the undercroft gap with a gym and home theatrette, and to tidy up the difficult garden.
