Award-Winning Futuristic Bathroom Design

This minimalist and futuristic design by Brilliant SA is definitely a real head-turner, and now an award winning design.

Space and simplicity are at the heart of this luxurious light-filled bathroom, making it a deserving winner of the HIA 2013 Renovated Bathroom Project ($30,001–$45,000). The minimalistic design responds to the way the space is used now and how it will be used in the future. The bath and shower form one large entity, sleek with a shower niche and multi-filler in the bath. Together with the floating Caroma Cube toilet and generous basin, the composition flows effortlessly, giving the illusion of space. Maximum freedom is allowed for the owners’ ever-expanding needs for storage. Mirrored cabinets stretch over the basin and toilet, a false wall allowing them to sit flush with the tiles and reflect precious light from the skylight and single awning window. Many of the aesthetic features take their inspiration from the beautiful coastal surroundings — a combination of soft curves and square angles, with a focus on nature and harmony of elements. Reconstituted marble floor tiles on the floor represent the sand on the beach. Wave feature wall tiles in the back of the niches are the perfect complement. And dark wall tiles bring a sense of depth and sophistication; their intensity balanced by gloss finishes. To complete the minimalist look and provide ease of cleaning, large format rectified tiles were chosen throughout. Underfloor heating with a thermostat controller provides the final touch of luxury.
