The Kavala Street House

Though consisting of only 130 odd m2, this staggering three bedroom, two bathroom home embodies an extensive feeling of space through the utilization of varying ceiling heights and clever space planning. Perched high on the hill, capturing stunning views of the Tamar River, this home uses rammed earth walls to further accentuate the strong indoor/outdoor relationships and embed the building in its natural surrounds. Integrated within the beautiful design are passive techniques. To minimize electricity and heating costs, whilst ensuring a high level of user comfort, the building deploys rammed earth and polished concrete for thermal mass, up specified insulation and strategic cross ventilation.
