RENOVATION: Industrial Elegance (K+M home)

The client brief for this renovation was to create a style that had an industrial element to it. They wanted character without rust or dust describing what they wanted to achieve as "perfect but raw".

This renovation required structural changes, in an apartment where it is the supporting floor and sitting above the carport, this can be an exciting challenge! We hydraulically needed to change where the water flowed in the apartment as well as soundproofing the floor and roof.

Their dream of a concrete slab floor was created by using single pour Pandomo over the boarded and patched original floor below (as it was full of slumps and bumps).

The roof was soundproofed by hanging a suspended ceiling off rubber grommets and re-plastered over the soundproofing batons (we did this and only lost 70mm of the original height).

We also did the full interior decorating on this job as well. What was really special was the re-purposing of the clients furniture to adapt to their own personal style and fit within the industrial elegance theme.

Another fun feature was the hidden door amongst the wardrobes in the main bedroom leading to the ensuite.
