RENOVATION: Sunshine Beach
In this renovation, the clients wanted to retain as much of the original house as possible whilst lifting the home to create 2.7 metre high ceilings downstairs. They wanted low maintenance materials and a contemporary look.
BRIEF: Create downstairs into three bedrooms, take the external laundry and move it into the side of the home, create an internal staircase and add a bathroom, a family room, and storage at the back of a two car garage.
Outside, they wanted to add pool fencing and decking.
Upstairs - we needed to re-roof the home, maintain the two bedrooms, create an ensuite, a WIR and a bathroom.
Needed to re position the kitchen, pantry and living area, cover the back deck and add an outdoor staircase to the backyard, as well as add a covered deck off bedroom 2.
It was planned to clad the home in enseam, although in the end, the budget didn't allow for this, so we used custom orb, colourbond.
CHALLENGES: The original home is built East-West on the block and it is tight to the boundary setbacks on the Northern side with space on the Southern side. For the renovation, we had to work in with 4 different pieces of slab. The original home also had a pool in the backyard and the front of the house was situated directly on the council 6 meter setback and had no overhang or eves of any kind (meaning the original home had no dimension to the front of the house).
