Blairgowrie

Originally a tired seaside cottage, with a few simple structural changes and clever joinery and decorating solutions this beachside home was transformed with summer-fresh style.
A new extension at the rear of the home encompasses open-plan kitchen/living/dining area with a butlers pantry and laundry. With its pitched ceiling with white lining boards and a cosy stone fireplace surrounded by functional and stylish joinery with bench seat and plenty of storage, the extension plays on the cottage-style appeal of the home's stone facade. Hard-wearing timber floors in the family zones gain a lovely patina with day-to-day use and are repeated in the living room joinery for a cohesive timber look throughout.
The soft pale blue colour palette used in the kitchen and furnishings evokes the ocean and summer sky, bringing the breezy seaside feel indoors. The dining room is connected through double doors to an undercover outdoor kitchen, making entertaining for big gatherings of family or friends easy year round.
In the main bedroom, a new bay window, walk in wardrobe and ensuite encapsulate the owners' preference for traditional style. Joinery in the ensuite and robe features lining boards in keeping with the theme running throughout the living zone. Soft furnishing selections in the bay window and on the bed provide gentle contrast against the otherwise white colour palette. Each pattern was selected within the same colour palette to ensure each works beautifully with the next.
