Country House

The brief for this second generation family home renovation was to keep the original elements with an emotional pull or memory whilst at the same time opening up small rooms to create a large open living, dining and kitchen area. Bedrooms were re-configured to create a ‘children’s wing’ and a separate adult space. Original old bricks, doors, windows, lead light windows, feature wall tiles, light fittings, some furniture and even the original concrete laundry trough were all either left in their original position or incorporated in some way into the renovation.
We embraced the ‘rustic’ nature of the house with its exposed bricks and concrete floor and added new concrete elements such as the polished floors and large kitchen island bench which became the centre piece of the newly opened up living, dining and kitchen area.
