Mount Lofty Stone Project

A Buddhist monk, for a spiritual retreat in the Adelaide Hills, specially selected the location of the house. Not surprisingly, aspects of Buddhist architecture influenced the design of this split-level stone home. It comprises of an enormous gathering room on the top level with circular window to the east above a dais to frame Buddha‘s head, large glass doors on the western wall covered by a verandah to shelter a female Buddha statue outside.
Earth sheltered rooms below comprise of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, dining and large garage with cellar.
Landscaping was minimal to cope with extreme weather conditions featuring large areas of raked gravel.
