Need help styling our black leather sofa
Comments (14)Definitely start with a rug. I don't know what your style is so can't make specific rug suggestion. But, I would take advantage of this neutral palette to choose a rug with a design and colors I love, then add pillows and accessories repeating those colors. Make sure the rug is large enough to be in scale with the sofa. The sofa has pretty hard lines, you might consider a round ottoman out of fabric. Above the sofa you could do artwork in graphic black and white, or color. Don't worry about everything matching. I am a believer that artwork is chosen because you love the piece. It should stand out in the room if you made the decision to invest in something. Check out local colleges the art department has several sales during the year of student art; especially around this time of year. Once you have the rug and ottoman add some chairs for additional seating. Enjoy and have fun....See MoreBlack on black vanity a good idea?
Comments (17)1. If you are having white tiles on the wall, the same as floor (my preference) then the white bench top will look great. The kick board should be white to match white tiles and the bench will look like it is floating. 2. If you are having 'light' colours, and white basins, then the white bench top. 3. If you go with black benchtop with 'light colour', then I think you need to look at a black basin and keep the kick board black....See MoreHelp me - What should i put with my marri furniture and black leather
Comments (6)Jodie, Dr Retro is on point with comments/advice.....this goes for all decision making in building/renovating/design/interiors etc...it's about balancing and identifying what is the feature and being consistent/appropriate to the ideal direction. If you want to keep your furniture then great but you need to work to it an it will to a certain degree define the project direction - so be clear/confident about this and let the feature elements "breathe" and not be over taken by the secondary aspects - it's actually really really hard to do in this day and age with so many "on trend" things being pushed in your face from all angles. I try and advise clients to be true to themselves and learn to understand/clarify with confidence what they like and why and this can take time to educate/gain knowledge/understanding in this regard.....I agree with Retro - try and go for finishes that are offsetting/contrasting to the significant timber furniture feature as otherwise you'll risk having timber overload ;) Hope this helps, good luck :) PD...See Moreblack lounge....help /ideas
Comments (11)You might find that this suits living spaces under 'transitional'. To guide your selections, I suggest you have a look through houzz photos using the search filters and collect photos that appeal into your own ideas book. once you have a collection browse back through and find the common items. this shade of yellow looks great Or a wingback chair in a cream/natural linen or tan distressed leather... Light/white washed oak side/coffee table (sorry for dining rather than living room pics, but they were the first I found to represent the ideas I had for you)...See MoreKate
