Bryn Mawr1 by Molly

The transformation from a 1980's country brick kitchen with dark cabinets to this bright and welcoming one is dramatic. This is one of those kitchens where the appliances were held together with cabinetry. Creative use of space and storage yielded a traffic flow that accommodates a crowd while maintaining an intimate atmosphere. Be sure to see the Before photos.

Elegance, function, and quality - nothing was compromised! While a built-in microwave has its place, we opted for a standard counter microwave placed on a shelf. The cabinet above is 18" deep and the depth is hidden by the refrigerator.

Elegance, function, and quality - nothing was compromised! rather than having two panels above the refrigerator (one to cover the access panel and the other to take it to 90") we used a single panel to balance out the one on the freezer drawer. It is held in place with clips and Velcro.

The slider (behind the curtains) became the Book Nook. We got rid of all the old timbers and covered up the brick.

The elephant in the room. Behind the cooktop "island" are doors leading to storage and laundry. The laundry was moved upstairs. The right-hand storage became an opening into the family room and the left-hand side became the walk-in pantry.
