The wall between the dining room and kitchen was removed and resulted in both spaces feeling larger. Additionally, a passage to the back yard was added by using some of the garage (the rest of the garage is used for storage, not a car) and a door from the garage to the house was added. The space taken from the garage to create the passage to the back yard also provided room for a large coat closet, a small mudroom bench, a pantry, and access to the home-office and powder room. This new access to the home office (other access from living room) provided a circular flow to the first floor, making the whole first floor feel larger.
