@ hollielambrose...I am of the turn of mind that if somebody just loves things natural and oif "driftwood" or old wood...or even new twigs and branches... and can envision what can be made from those pieces of nondescript nature...these are all very acceptable in any kind of home. I do not like homes that are show pieces in themselves, musoleums to one's existence so to speak, but i definitely do like homes that are turned into artifacts by everything hand made and recycled/repurposed. Thes items have soul! They express the idea of "home...where the heart lives" and the creativity and zest for living and beautiful things of those who have made them or purchased them for their homes. Every one of the Pictures above is an inspiration to me! To me a hand made item from any kind of wood or twig that has been designed to serve a practical purpose is something of wonder compared with some of the stark concrete sleek dwellings that are in vogue today. A HOME never dates. A HOUSE does.

The parlour palm is the most reliable palm for indoors .. Plants add exponentially to the indoors effect and personality, as has been said many times over, however as with anything, ideally should be placed/chosen tastefully and not in a hodge-podge or messy looking fashion. Unhealthy looking plants are particularly unattractive ..

@Souzette Lovell, I know nothing about bidets but just commenting on your question about water being splashed on untiled areas of your bathroom. I constructed my bathroom entirely with villa board, and the only plaster is on the ceiling. I have also tiled the entire bathroom to the ceiling because it made sense to do this rather than be concerned about any water ingress anywhere as well as any damage from something like the hand held shattaff you mention and it means zero maintenence having to repaint from time to time. My suggestion is if it's not too late to use villaboard and not plaster, in fact I'm surprised all bathrooms aren't fitted out with villaboard but I don't think it's compulsory except for the shower cubicle. I did it so there would never be an issue with water damage as this material is impervious to water ingress. Otherwise if it's too late and your bathroom is complete, I would tile this wall or a section of the wall as it would make more sense to be able to wipe the tiles regularly in case of any unwanted splashes from regular use if there are children especially, as their aim isn't always perfect and it's hard to clean plaster ha-ha!!

As with any colour, you have to consider how other colours in the room with impact. This is particularly so with white. For example the hue in floorboards and floor coverings will reflect off the white and impact the final result as will, room direction and seasons. For natural white to look peachy, there must be other factors at play, for example, golden tone flooring with a room facing daytime sun (north in southern hemisphere or south in northern hemisphere.)
