Styling help with entry hallway
Comments (11)I would just LOVE a space like this in my home, for I would agree with dohraime above and keep the flow and view into your lounge space free-flowing. One can never have too many views to gaze at! I would make the space say "library" and: - keep the wall unit and include plenty of books - keep the gorgeous floor lamp - add 2 small lightish coloured, plain or patterned comfy chairs and a small coffee table underneath the stairs - add a complimentary console table on the wall opposite the stairs - add a large stylish mirror over the console table to bounce light around the fairly dark space - add a generously sized, patterned rug with some lightish colours in it, round or oblong, whichever you prefer. If the comfy chairs are patterned, ensure the rug coordinates with them Oh .... And a statement pendant ceiling light as well even though you have down lights already good luck!...See MoreDo you prefer a bold entrance, or something subtle?
Comments (11)I rather think the last comment is moe the point, it really depends on the style and position of the home as to which colour would work better, than simply deciding if you should go bold or subtle. The first colour by the way is a mustard not yellow but a nice colour all the same however, I'm not sure if I would want such a bold colour greeting my guests, although I do understand that sometimes if your front door isn't set in a way that draws people to the right location that a bold colour can be helpful!!...See MoreHelp with decorating my long, dark and oddly shaped entry hall
Comments (17)The hallway is bright and welcoming. Forget a mat as you have dogs as well as elderly family. Unless the chair is serving a purpose, I would remove it and add a full-length wall hung mirror which will reflect light and make the hall look an indeterminate length and you can used it to see your reflection before you leave the house....See MoreEntry hallway decor
Comments (10)The hall table is easy on where to put it . Under the stairs . So you ( or family members ) can leave dirty or even security items , out of sight . Did you consider doing something in the hall -- an abstract painting or 2 ? It's a relatively new concept called colour , but some more courageous people are finding it looks slightly different to white , or white , or white , or even black . Haha . The one thing that shows some thought -- the ( almost certainly imitation ) wooden floor panels -- you know you need something when the most positive thing said is about the floor ! A painting on that large white wall can be bought probably as cheaply as painting or wallpapering that whole wall ( especially with the 'challenge' of having to continue upstairs , or making some kind of differentation -- basically two-toning the wall ) . You may even make money on a painting ( you probably won't ) ; you look a bit cultured ( although it hasn't worked for me , and I must have 50 ! ) ; and real easy to change if you get bored or even change your lounge suite , kitchen appliances , a rug or whatever is in surrounding rooms ....See MoreMichelle Comerford
