The white skirting, door frames and window frames are a staple, great thinking! The white will give you plenty of options for paint colour.

In looking at the carpet colour I'd recommend 'Pacific Line - P41B9' by Dulux this is the dark blue shown below. If you're worried about it being too dark or flat I've had success with mixing in 'Dulux metallic effect'. This makes the paint reflect more light and it dries looking less flat. This regal blue will contrast the carpets and give a classy modern feel.

Hi thank you all for your input, much appreciated. Will stick I think with the light grey walls and white trims inside.. love the blue James but need to keep it simple and quick! But will take the actual carpet in the bedrooms only from a grey to a dark bluey grey to give a lift. Thanks :)

I will check out the photo/paint options thanks Lainie.. glad Im half on the right tram with the grey.. now its just which shade!

Hi VM thanks for your suggestions. I was thinking Vanilla quake or Dieskau walls and Vivid white trims then outside I have narrowed the field a little. The bricks have to stay.. Thought Domino might be a tad dark? Will definately look at western Myall tomorrow. Was thinking maybe Stepney or timeless grey? Also tossed oyster linen worried about the orange bricks .. your opinion is much appreciated ;)

Hi Aleta, These colours are lovely also and have a mauve tone. So important to get the colours right to make you feel happy when you get home.

The Dieskau and Vailla Quake have mauve tones. All greys have certain colour tones. Are you after a warm grey or blue grey?

Hi probably prefer a warm grey but the floorboards are pine..

I tend to not worry too much about the floorboards if they are existing...unless they are a strong colour like jarrah.

For a warm grey you could try Dulux Pipe Clay or Ghosting. Both work really nicely with Vivid White.

Great thank you, Ill get sample swatches today...they have started with the ceilings and purchased the Vivid White for the trims.... thought couldnt go too wrong there with a quick decision, have about 24hrs to sort the walls..We will I think eventually spray the fences and repowdercoat the doors to be rid of the green but as they are new ..for now they are just not in the budget. I have a sample of Tranquil Retreat..which I like better than the Vanilla Quake.. Though it is slightly darker. I can see the mauve now when they are together. This is only a small house.. Older style so not open plan, all rooms have 4 walls and doors. Would the tranquil retreat be too dark? Would half strength be a better option? Still liking the vivid white to go with it.

Hi Aleta1, youre getting down to the nitty gritty of Interior Design now. Choosing the perfect colour involves addressing many issues...size of your windows, orientation of the house, height of ceilings, size of rooms, purpose for room to name a few.

If you have the time I recommend getting a sample pot of full and half strength and try it in a couple of corners of each room. That way you can see how the colour looks at different angles.
