Hi Luke, I think as with anything in life it's about moderation. A lot of the time for kids it's the doing. Not the keeping. We as adults think everything needs to be significant but the kids have no expectation of keeping all the stuff. So maybe plan to have a space to display their works of art that has pride of place, and they choose which works go there and the rest are thrown. They can rotate as they ned to and at the same time learn that space is a resource to be used judiciously. When it comes to stirring their stuff. Knowing that their needs will vary through the years, flexible storage such a s adjustable shelving with compartments for specific tasks work well at all stages. Lovely photo b.t.w.

i keep most magazines only long enough to cut out the best pictures, articles and ideas to stick in separate paper folders for building,renovating and decorating, gardening, cooking and sewing and a few pictures for framing. The collections are regularly culled as selections are used to illustrate plans or ideas are tested and discarded and, although some of my favourites date from the early 1970's the information fits into four folders kept in a bookshelf with a handful of vintage building magazines

I have an iron pot holder hanging from the ceiling, I don't hang my pots because they don't have holes in the handles and are way too expensive to drill into. I hang baskets and utensils, plus a few vintage copper pieces like jugs I sometimes use for flowers, and a vintage copper colander. I use the baskets to harvest produce and flowers from the garden. I have a vintage kitchen with not many drawers, have had to be creative about utensil storage.

Our apartment block has bike rack near where the communal bins are kept. We hang bikes from hooks and there is a chain link on the wall for securing bike locks (it is not a cage).
