Comments (6)As a rough guide Caroline we try and use fittings that mirror the basic shape and profile of the room, for example, you have a room with a tall profile, so we would try and use a fitting that also has a tall profile or shape. As Cherel has suggested, using multiple fittings is a good idea because as a whole they create that tall profile and fill in the space. You'll also have a larger range of fittings to choose from. The only issue you might have with this is getting them all centred over the table, which is important (is there any possibility of moving the outlet) A single pendant like the one in your image might work and would be a simpler solution for the off-centre cable outlet however, it would need to be large (at least 600mm diameter).....anything less would be dwarfed....See MoreSuggestions for blank wall in entry

Comments (8)I think you need shelving either side of fire. Just something simple to add interest. To many surfaces, I think, already for adding tiles. If you want to put something on the fire place wall, then the clock needs to find another home. And the tile surface could be similar to the hearth. Either dark wood or black, floating shelves. Then your favourite things can be displayed. This looks like the same room you posted a while ago. The single wing back chairs would look good in this room again. Facing the fire. Then a light coloured rug to take away from all the black. Gold accessories to match your side tables. And if the plants are artificial, I would remove for something larger and real. For your window near the fire, A solid window treatment, eg: roller blind or shutters, would work. But if you don't need anything on that window, then maybe just a pelmet to finish it off....See More
9 years agoAgree with bigreader. What a wonderful room you have. I found many photos in HOUZZ under 'transitional' bedrooms (examples below), but you could check out other styles such as traditional and contemporary. The choice is limitless, depending of course on budget and style preference.

Your room looks great! I love the ceiling pendant you've chosen. If I were designing this room I would not put anything above this beautiful serpentine bedhead. Instead I would be placing two mirrors, one behind either bedside lamp . This treatment which alludes to the Hampton's theme, will add style, glam and most importantly will balance your room beautifully.

9 years agoGreat tips here ... we faced a similar conundrum and went with an artwork (see below). It is a bit... square. 2 mirrors may have worked better?
