I'll add a photo on the weekend. But I'm planning to start all over again in there anyway, not keep anything, except the curtains. It will be done on a very tight budget, but I'm pretty good at getting value for my money:-)

I would suggest you choose your furnishings and then work backwards and choose the paint to match afterwards. Ideas for colours would be chocolate brown and pink (either shocking or a very pale peony); turquoise or sea green (very soothing); grey or taupe (very warm); or even variants of green from lime to moss.... - and then of course, beige and brown...Nowadays, an accent wall can be more interesting if you take the panel straight up from behind the bed to the ceiling (so just paint that part and not the whole wall...Here are some ideas of rooms with modern and traditional dark brown curtains https://www.houzz.com/photos/mountain-house-transitional-bedroom-denver-phvw-vp~131950

Thanks ASVInteriors. I wanted to keep most of the furniture, but re-paint it. So I guess I better start thinking about paint finishes and soft furnishings then. Two of the pics you put up are in my ideas book anyway! LOL

Hi Faye - oops - sometimes as I go through dilemmas I don't always check on the OP ideabooks. However now that I have checked, but am not much wiser on your style as the pictures are little of everything.What colours do you like? What are you trying to achieve with this room? A feminine or more neutral look? Dramatic colours or serene? with these answers I can perhaps give you more targetted advice.

I'm thinking kind of serene, maybe the blue-ish accents, but then I found a couple of orange-ish looks and I love them too. Must be the Leo in me. I am torn between the orange and the blue. They are the two colours that appeal to me the most. But I'm wondering if the orange wouldn't become 'exhausting' after a while? it doesnt necessarily need to be feminine, I'm not a 'hearts'n'flowers' kinda gal

I love the aqua blue and browns you have for this room. Given your furnishings, they have a mid century modern style which you could capitalize on. (see the bedside table in this image is like yours)You can easily create a base of browns and a cream or patterned rug and then find some bedlinens in the cyan/aqua colour https://www.houzz.com/products/organic-ironwork-duvet-cover-prvw-vr~501905 and then find a fabric that matches your duvet cover to cover the chair...It would be nice if you could either spray paint the bed (which I think is black metal) a silver metallic colour to lessen a harsh line. I would also remove the shiny sheer drape you have in front of the curtains. Why are they there? You seem to have venetian blinds as well.Can you hang the mirror up higher or is it part of the dresser? The base should be about 20cm from the top of the dresser to create some height to the room. I would also lower or even remove the painting in the room as it is too high...For the other furniture, I would rather work on some simple basics and then we can adjust them around. I think your bed is in the only place it can be....

Hi pattihenderson, I like the brown wall idea too, but I might have to run that one past my landlord I think. ASVInteriors, I've decided to go with the blue colour accents, I think I could really live and love the whole look long term. The sheers are at the window because of the positioning of doors and windows, The neighbours lounge room window looks directly onto my lounge room window, which then leads on through my bedroom door and out of my bedroom window. It's quite easy to see right throught the house from one side to the other. But I don't like the sheers, they are not staying. I had already planned to paint my bed frame, and silver too!!! You seem to read some of my thoughts! I don't know if it would be possibe to remove the mirror from the dresser base (yes, they are joined), something for me to think about. And I was planning to make the wall behind my bed the feature wall, The painting is earmarked for another room. Thank you both so much for your input. Don't go away, will you?
