I love your ceiling. I would have gone for a different rug, something with Aztec colours that pick up the orange from the couch but add a bit of oomph to all the grey.

To me the rug is to dark. I would go with an Aztec one like Big Reader suggested or one similar to the cushion on the far right of Julie Herbert's images, which is Aztecie anyway, I think.

Hope has a gorgeous Aztec look throw on her couch also, I love the ceiling too, it’s a great room.

Do you need cushions? If not I would not worry. Aztec coloured rug as suggested would look good. Not the dark one pictured. Aztec rug could also bring in some of the green colour I am seeing in your beams.

Great photos Irene. But these have white ceilings. I feel the look has to incorporate the ceiling colour, unless it gets painted white. There is a lot of ceiling colour, even though a wonderful vaulted ceiling, in my opinion it seems to push down/overwhelm the room.

Are you inclined to paint the beams white or ceiling white and leave the beams, it might not be so imposing, a thought

This is a very eclectic lounge room, but includes the colours I was thinking, to match the wonderful vaulted ceiling.

Answer to the question re: do I need cushions. Maybe not unless I find something I really like but am loving those Aztec one’s atm.
Answer to painting the beams. The ceiling doesn’t really feel imposing but I do like the idea of just painting the beams. I have attached a couple of other photos if rooms in my house that show the cathedral ceiling. The bedroom ceiling we painted as it did seem imposing.

Hope, your home looks very inviting, congratulations. The lounge room, with the white, neutral colours looks great. Maybe I'm seeing a clash with the ceiling colour, not the beams, and the lounge. Really liking your sense of style.

How beautiful your furniture looks with that charcoal rug, I think your orange couch is a real showstopper on the charcoal rug also, the Aztec lighter cushions will really look fabulous, I think that is all you need , Gorgeous home.

What a beautiful home. I agree with Julie Herbert.....those Aztec cushions will be pretty much all you need to add a finishing touch. The second cushion example has a small amount of pale beige which would perfectly complement your ceilings. Don't be tempted to change or paint those ceilings. They add a beautiful warmth as well as a stunning point of difference. Rather, work with them and try to repeat a bit of the ceiling colour elsewhere, such as the cushions, so it looks intentional. Love the orange couch!

I'm thinking just some colourful cushions and a throw would be enough. I think floral cushions would soften it a bit, though rather than Aztec. Something like this...

If you're thinking of changing the rug, I would probably go lighter and more beige to tie in with the ceiling. And maybe a mirror under the aircon......?

I like your rug, I think it ties in with the charcoal wall in the kitchen.

The orange modular is a huge statement but you recognize that there is nothing to “connect the pieces together” a simple abstract art piece showcasing the orange, grey and white , black will
“Tie” your theme together and place it just about the lounge on the large white wall.. remember not that small so think scale!

Your lounge is large so I think a portrait size piece ( hung vertically not landscape) approximately 300mm above your lounge would be a perfect addition.

If that is too hard for you to imagine perhaps a bowl on the coffee table with hints of orange grey and white to connect the elements..

Your missing a degree of “softness” some texture so rather than cushions ( which I don’t think ever really work with a leather lounge) perhaps a textured throw combining your colour scheme.. no solid colours...

Just a suggestion is the art piece below!

Ha ha, Hope my husband says the same, I am a bit of a tragic when it comes to cushions too, he usually comes around in the end and says ‘ well that does look great ‘ until he opens the cupboard and all the hidden ones fall on top of him. Happy cushion shopping.
